Mama Love

My life has been so crazy lately (hence the lack of presence on the blog) that I neglected to get my Mom's mother's day card in the mail. Bad daughter of the year award . . I know, I know! But what better way to show the crazy amount of love I have for thee "Mama Love" than dedicating an entire blog post to her for all of the world to see . . or my 12 followers :). So here's to one of the most selfless, kind, wild and big hearted ladies I know. I cannot begin to count the amount of times you have come through for me and do not know where I would be without your guidance and love. You have always made me see that "things aren't that bad" and that "the sun with come up tomorrow". That our blessings in life are meant to be shared with others and that a good glass, or even a cheap glass, of wine can solve many of the day's problems. You lady, are a true inspiration and a light to all who know you. I can't thank you enough for your love and support and can only hope that someday I can compare to the type of Mother you have been to me. I love you so much and hope you have a fabulous day! XOXOXO

What's old is new.

No . . this lovely magenta dress is not new, actually it's very old! So old that when I bought it from a thrift store is smelled like moth balls, had a questionable stain and a hole in the side. After a good dry cleaning and some patch work, she's good as new! I am in love with the color and matched with my fav TJ Maxx wedges, it was a perfect wear for this 80 degree day! I decided, post the shopping bindge, I am going to start doing some more vintage/thrift shopping (It sounds way cooler saying "vintage"). It takes a little bit longer to shop and the items may need a good clean after but this entire outfit cost less than $50.00 and I don't know anyone else who owns this little number!

Sidenote: my very hilarious and witty friend Taylor over here at TheDailyTay - wrote a satirical childrens book with the help of my friend Kammie as the crazy talented illustrator. It would make for a great babyshower gift/gift for the new aunt drinking her version of the party punch!  http://www.abottleforyouabottleforme.com/

Wedding Wear

I forwarded an email on to my friends the other day with a conversation on the bottom about plans to go to Urban Outfitters to pick something up. Within five minutes I had two emails back along the lines of . .  "I thought you weren't shopping for a month". A. thanks for creeping on my email :) and B. it was for my brothers birthday gift!!! So while my friends continue to remind me that I cannot shop for a couple more weeks, I am doing some shopping for you all. If I have ten weddings this summer, I am sure you all have your share as well. Mine are a mix of outdoor vineyard weddings and classic formal receptions. Here are some dresses I found to fit both types of events. A mix of bright summer colors, floral prints and a classic taupe and black stripe. Happy shopping!

May 12th, 2012

I know I have been slacking on the blog and I apologize but the truth is . . . I'm having withdrawals and the pain of posting outfit options to my blog hurts. I Brittany Marie Love have given up shopping for myself for one entire month! How sad is that, that this is a huge feat for me? Very sad. So sad that my recent approach is downing discount Reese’s eggs by the handfuls, which may ultimately lead to an entirely different blog post. I seriously have an obsession with shopping and it’s not that the things I buy are expensive but a trip or two a week to Forever21 or online to Tobi is really starting to add up so I’m pushing through. This will be good for me to make the millions of things in my closet work together! Look forward to seeing things I may already have worn in past blogs worn again and in a different way. Until May 12th, 2012 I will be purchase free. My bank account will very much appreciate this. Just don’t be surprised if you see me with my face plastered to the window outside of Urban Outfitters!

*Yes, I really have a post-it-note on my wall at work reminding me. Maybe a paper chain will be necessary?!

Off the bottom

Sooo I may have been a bit dramatic on twitter yesterday (as the bf pointed out) about how much hair I was losing. No, I do not have a pixi cut today but I did get 4 inches cut off and it felt and looked like a TON! Obviously when it's your own 4 inches, it seems like a much bigger deal but I am loving the shorter 'do. Much more healthy and light. With a peanut head like mine, I think less is more!

THANK YOU!

This post is a just an honest big fat THANK YOU! I haven’t been in the blogging world long but have loved every minute of it thus far and in many ways because of you all. I started this as a creative outlet to share my love of shopping and clothes (deep I know J) and the many well wishes and notes of admiration have been amazing. I just wanted to take this post to say thank you to those of you who have tweeted, text, etc. a simple “love what you are doing, keep it up”. Those who have offered up suggestions or asked for advice, you don’t know how great it can make a girl feel! Soo thank you, thank you . . . as Oscar Wilde said “The smallest act of kindess is worth more than the grandest intention."

Let the fun begin . .

Between this summer and fall, I have TEN weddings! It is going to be a crazy couple of months full of LOVE. But before we can get these women married off, there is much celebrating to be had. This weekend marked the start of the craziness as we took my friend Jamie out on the town in Kansas City. We began with some spa services, a hotel gathering and out to Power and Light for some dancing and drinks. As my Dad says, I think we broke the fun barrier!
My friends are pretty and FUN!
To hang her "gifts" on
Of course
Festive St. Patty's props
Bridesmaids
So cute!
The bride-to-be and me
I hope you all had a very fun and festive weekend!

Blogger Style

Jenny Galley of Denim Saloon in Dudee asked three Omaha bloggers to take part in a "blogger challenge" (if you will). We were asked to take the store's lavender Joe's jeans and style them to make it our own look. I tried a few looks and ended up deciding on this, which fit my style perfectly! I paired the lavendar jeans with a flowing detailed shirt (from the store) and added my own fringe Forever21 leather vest and jewelry. I love that this outfit could be dressed up or down. Add boots or flats and wear it to lunch with friends or add a bright lipstick, remove the vest and add a detailed necklace for datenight. I am so excited to see what the other ladies involved come up with. Until then oogle my outfit and get in to see Jenny for all of your jean needs and then some!

Houdini

Actual text conversation between a friend and I  . . .

F: Felted  gray wool skirt that hits about the knee. Cute with black tights, ankle boots and a simple black top?
B: Yes! Or add a bright colored top to break it up!
F: What color would you do?
B: Love coral right now! Yellow?! What color are the ankle boots?
F: IDK I don't have any yet! :)
B: Haha what is this for?
F: I just have the cute skirt but no idea how to wear it!
B: Well you best be getting to wear it before it gets to warm sista! I'll put some looks together and send it to you!

And TaDa . . . the proof that one gray skirt can take on many different wardrobe roles to fit any occasion.

Going Green

St. Patty's day is right around the corner and I, like many of my fellow Irishmen (for the day), will be celebrating in "green" style. This year I will be in Kansas City for a bachelorette party so the outfit choice this time around is a pretty big deal. I still haven't decided if I want to go with an all green get up with a neutral shoe or pick a neutral outfit and pair it with a fun green necklace.

What will you be wearing for the festivities this year?
